What you should know before calling a geek!

Many companies such as Futureshop, Staples, and Bestbuy have technical centers where anyone can bring in a PC and ask for it to be repaired. The job gets done and everything should be working great! But then comes the bill for a huge sum of money which was agreed upon before the repairs started.

As you look at the charges on the paper ($40 for problem solving and then $80/hr for labour*) you wonder to yourself why you must pay such a hefty price?!

So why wouldn't you learn a bit of computer repairs yourself and save a whole bunch of money?

I'm here to show you a bit about home repairs that you can do easily and save yourself a whole bunch of money.

You may be asking yourself 'why is this person willing to share information with me at no cost, when they could be charging me for the knowledge they have?'

The answer is simple. I fix computers locally in my area but would like to help others cut costs for computer repairs who don't live where I work. I know its hard to save money as I am a college student myself trying to keep student debt away. So now I have decided in my spare time to post some information that may help you cut costs on fixing a computer and give me a chance to put my name out there.

In the days, weeks, and months to follow I will be posting valuable information which you can hopefully use to keep your computer running smoothly.

All the best from your little Kelowna Techy,

JP L.
